Fancy a bit of inside knowledge into the best bars to visit in Paris? From an outsider's point of view, it can be sometimes be a bit daunting trying to find the hotspots in a new city, and Paris is no difference. Unfortunately, if you end up in the wrong bar, you may end up spending a whole heap of Euros on overpriced drinks that you had to buy to save face.
We've all been there!
Here's a little rundown of a few places worth checking out when you're in the 'City of Love' that won't cripple you financially.
Chez Jeannette
This trendy little hangout bar is the perfect place to grab a drink when you jump off the Eurostar. Situated right outside the Gar du Nord, the Chez Jeanette also offers a good selection of food, and with beers coming at around €2 a pop, you're not going to break the bank in here. The decor is a heady mix of chandeliers, neon and formica, and is home to the young, local arty clientele who have taken this place to their hearts. Probably due to the prices, not so much the 1940's wallpaper!
Batofar
You won't find many bars in the world like this! Based onboard a red steel lighthouse ship, Batofar is a super cool bar/nightclub based right outside the national library. With different entertainment most nights, there's always something going on aboard the good ship Batofar, with door prices varying depending on who's playing. A great place to party till dawn, Batofar is not one of the cheaper establishments, but their entertainment bill is second to none in the capital.
Bar du
This uber cool, no frills cafe/bar is absolutely rammed almost every night of the week. Open till 2am and with beers starting at just €3, the Bar du March does exactly what it says on the tin, a market bar overlooking the rue du Buci. There's a certain charm to this place and it's decor that keeps the locals flooding back for more every time though, so arrive early if you want to get a seat.
These are just a few of the most notable bars in Paris which you could easily miss if you're just heading around all the tourist hotspots on your first visit. Sometimes you need to go off the beaten track a little to find the real, traditional Parisian flavour, but find these 3 places and you won't go far wrong.
Enjoy your trip!
