A 30 foot tall antique cart that has been in use for over 500 years moves from the Porta al Prato to the Piazza del Duomo hauled by a group of white oxen bedecked with the first flowers of spring is the centre of attraction. The holy fire sparked from the historic flints at Jerusalem is taken as a procession to the cathedral square by members of the Pazzi family, clerics, and city officials. The whole cart is set ablaze by a mechanical dove descending by wire from the top of the high altar. The complex show of fireworks is a beauty to watch.
Exposition of the virgin's girdle is another major celebration of the Easter traditions in Florence, Italya. Sacra Cintola - the holy belt of Virgin Mary is kept in the chapel of the Cathedral of the city of Prato (Duomo di Prato), Italy. The Holy Relic is taken out five times a year and shown to the huge crowds who gather at the piazza. This precious relic is displayed from Donatello's pulpit at the frontage of the cathedral.
