Best Budget Hotels - Paris

ParisImage via Wikipedia

By Mike Leverency

Paris is known for its delicious food, luxurious hotels and all round decadence. But you do not have to break the bank to stay in luxury, here are the top five budget hotels in Paris:

5. Hotel des 3 Colleges

This stunning two star hotel allows you to experience the finer side of Paris without the Parisian price tag. Try to land a corner room, or one on the sixth floor. They tend to be bigger and have exposed beams, giving you that extra bit of luxury for your money. The rooms come with everything you would expect, as well as wifi, and the staff are very knowledgeable about the museums and art galleries, even arranging a pass so you don't have to wait in line. The price for a double room is just 103, making it an affordable luxury.
4. Hotel Chopin

The Hotel Chopin is set back in a 19th century shopping arcade and is probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing hotels in this list. The rooms are quite plain once you get inside, but the hotels location guarantees no street noise. It is close to the theatres and prices range from 80 - 100 for a double room.
3. Hotel Amour

This hotel is definitely only for adults! Set in an old brothel this hotel is perfect for a couple wanting to get away and do nothing but spend time with each other. Instead of having a television in the room, most have the bath built in that is big enough for you and your partner. The lounge and garden outside offer a great place to get something to eat and drink before retiring to the boudoir. Hotel Amour is one of the more expensive choices at 130 for a double, but for this you are guaranteed a luxury stay.
2. Hotel du 7e Art

Hotel du 7e Art is one of the more quirky budget hotels that you can find in Paris that pays homage to films of all types. Every wall in the hotel is adorned with movie posters from all types of films. The lounge is covered in posters, whereas the rooms are more subtly done. The hotel offers Internet access and a small gym in the basement. A double room will cost 95 and is definitely worth a stay! It's love of films old and new just oozes Parisian charm.
1. Hotel Beaumarchais

Hotel Beaumarchais breathes exuberance into the Gothic city of Paris. The hotel's rooms are painted a shocking yellow with bright red, asymmetrical headboards. Although this may not sound like the most tasteful hotel, you would be surprised! As the one vibe you get from this hotel is one of cool. They hang original art on the walls and ask for submissions on their website, as well as having completely bespoke furniture and paint jobs, the hotel is more like a Parisian artists hang out! Definitely worth a stay, especially if you want to experience the side of arty Paris without paying for pretence. A double room will cost 110.
Next time you are in Paris remember that you can stay in luxury or feel like an art elite without having to break the bank. I would suggest that you visit all these hotels as they will not cost you much and cheap flights to Paris are easy to find.
If you stay in hotel du 7e art, try to count all of the movie posters. There are usually two in each bedroom.
