The Gardens of Rome

Cappella di Villa Doria PamphiliImage via WikipediaBy Roberta Stuart

When you imagine Rome, what iconic images spring to mind? Is it the towering Colosseum? The Pantheon? Vatican City? While you'd be correct in imagining all of these things as symbolic of Rome, many people don't notice a hidden aspect to Rome all around them. While the historical sites and buildings are impressive, and indeed might be all you can see from a window in your hotel, Rome centre is filled with parks and gardens every bit as impressive as its architecture. With a large number of landscaped gardens sculpted by the 19th century Italian aristocracy, the city actually has one of the largest areas of green space amongst European capitals. Here are a few of the biggest, best, and brightest gardens in Rome.

The Awesome Malaga Picasso Museum

The statue "Head of female" by Pablo...Image via Wikipedia
Author: Ash Ford

Even after 30 years, the late Picasso still lives; at least through his marvelous masterpieces. Right here in Malaga, Spain, Picasso stands grand in his hometown and birthplace. In his honor, the town has erected a special museum to house some of his best masterpieces in the Museo Picasso, which was previously a palace in the ancient quarter, restored for this particular purpose. It is barely 5 minutes away from the great artist's birthplace.

A tribute

The Malaga Museum that is built in honor of Pablo Picasso, the great and talented artist, has drawn this town into the public eye. The works of the 12th century artist are now available in the artist's hometown as was his desire. There are only 3 museums in the world which have been dedicated to Picasso's art pieces, and Malaga's Picasso Museum is one such museum.

Picasso has become an icon to many great and budding artists even in the 20th century where his style and techniques motivate others in today's modern art forms.

Nightlife in Rome

Piazza Campo dei Fiori, Rome: the market with ...Image via Wikipedia

Author: Asif Khan

Rome is one of the Italian cities with major Mediterranean flavour. Thanks to its pleasant climate and its charming people, it enjoys a large influx of tourists. It has a quiet nightlife, but the lacks of the night are compensated with its cultural and archaeological attractions. Though, the party lovers will not be disappointed if they go to the indicated locals. Even the most demanding people would be happy having a relaxing stroll under the moonlight in some of its squares or a walk along the Tiber River.
While nightlife in Rome holidays takes place most commonly around the dinner table, the bar scene is pretty varied and offers something for everyone. Many of the city's pubs are quiet havens for a mid-afternoon pint, yet transform into virtual nightclubs after dinner, often attracting a crowd nostalgic for home-style drunkenness.
The bars on Campo de' Fiori are filled with Italians sipping coffee by day and invaded by raucous exchange students by night. The Drunken Ship, Sloppy Sam's and a cluster of other bars attract quite a fun-loving crowd.
Bar Del Fico - This nightclub is very popular amongst the artistic crowd in the city, and is located at the Piazza Del Fico. The club serves up a heady blend of great music and well mixed drinks, making it very popular among young crowds. The Bar Del Fico is also a popular hangout for many of the famous artists and actors from around Italy.
Shopping, dining, and drinking in Rome are not difficult ventures; however, though Rome's vibrant nightlife is an experience of its own, the historical and cultural attractions of the city definitely triumph the city's nightlife scene.

London, England - Tate Britain

Tate Britain gallery which houses works by Don...Image via WikipediaBy Harry Preston
No gallery can rival Tate Britain for its collection of British art from 1500 to the present day - the closest, the Yale Center for British Art, can claim similar expansiveness but has less depth.
Although intended as a national gallery of British art from its inception, when it opened in 1897 it was named after Henry Tate, the sugar millionaire. He paid for the building and kick-started the project with his collection of Victorian pictures.
In the 100-plus years since, the gallery has become a multifaceted exploration of Britain itself. From Tudor England through to Gainsborough and Reynolds in the 18th century, from the 19th-century Pre-Raphaelites and beyond to Spencer, Hockney and the iconoclastic Bacon in the 20th, its portraits are an intimate social history of the country. It has outstanding examples of the Romantic artists Blake (1757-1827), Constable (1776-1837) and Turner (1775-1851), the latter housed in the spare, almost hallowed spaces of the Clore Gallery, designed by Sir James Stirling. The gallery is internationally known for its sponsorship of contemporary art.
Since 1984 it has awarded the Turner Prize annually to a British artist under the age of 50. Controversial almost from the beginning, the prize has become particularly associated with conceptual art. The permanent collection, which is arranged chronologically, is complemented by temporary exhibitions that focus on a theme or individual artist. If you want to visit Tate Modern on the same day, a high-speed boat decorated with Damien Hirst spots will zip you upriver. The Tate Britain is a must see when in London.
