Paris Passes

By []Eugene Engelbrecht

If you're going to Paris, you may have heard of the Paris Pass, the Paris Visite Pass and the Paris Museum Pass. These have the potential both to save you and to cost you money. Let me explain the concept.

Paris has lots of museums and other attractions. To get into each of these involves standing in long queues, sometimes for two hours. In addition, an entrance fee is paid for each attraction. How great would it be if you could get into many or most of the attractions for a reduced fee without even having to queue? Sounds great, right?

At first glance it is a really good idea, hence something like the Paris Museum Pass. That said, bear in mind the adage: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". I am not saying you should not get a Paris Museum Pass or one of the other cards; I am, however, saying you should think about whether it is right for you.

When you say France, the first thing on people's mind is Paris. Truly, this city, which has been hailed as the "City of Lights" is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. It is home to two landmark attractions: Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum as well as a dozen more of equally impressive structures and sights that you should really see at least once in your life.
If you're privileged to visit this city but you only have one day, do not fret. You can still make the most of it by planning your itinerary well. One good way to maximize your trip is to make use of the Paris Metro. The train system of the city is very efficient that you can get from one place to another within a few minutes. Download a map of the train and study it very well before you trip.
Aside from Eiffel Tower and Louvre Museum, you can see other attractions like Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe, and Centre Pompidou, among many others. Don't forget to plan your meals as well. With so many sights to see in one day, you might choose to ignore your growling stomach. Don't. You need to eat so you'll have the energy to walk around.
Another great way to maximize your time is to ride the open top bus that goes around the city. Also a wonderful tip is to buy attraction admission tickets online so you can save time from falling into long queues when get to these places.

A Few Places of Romance in Paris

Author: Phil Chavanne

In Woody Allen's judgement, "As long as you haven't been kissed during any of those rainy Parisian afternoons, you haven't been kissed at all." A long-time dweller of the French capital, I'd have a hard time not to agree with the most Parisian New Yorker. Paris is a place as perfect as they come to live a glorious romance, rekindle your marriage, or meet your lifetime someone. The question is: where do you start?

Introduction:

Paris is a world centre for gastronomy and you'll be spoilt for choice in good restaurants around the city.

Obviously, in a city of Paris's size cuisine from all over the world is on offer but French food dominates menus throughout the city. Traditional French fare revolves around fine fresh ingredients served up in delicate sauces - the greatest element in French cuisine. The areas in the centre with the best choices include the streets north of the Louvre, especially around the Palais Royal and the Rue St-Honore, and the Marais. On the Rive Gauche, St-Germain-des-Pres has the most chic selection while the Latin Quarter boasts a good range. Bute aux Cailles (13e) has a predominance of food from the Southwest of France, while Rue de la Gaiete (14e) and Mouffetard (5e) are both good areas for traditional cuisine.

Hidden Treasures in Paris

La Défense as seen from the Eiffel Tower.Image via Wikipedia

Author: Suze

Paris was founded towards the end of the 3rd century BC on what is now the île de la Cite by a tribe of Celtic Gauls known as the Parisii. Centuries of conflict between the Gauls and Romans ended in 52 BC, when Julius Caesar's legions took control of the territory and the settlement became a Roman town. Christianity was introduced in the 2nd century AD, and the Roman party was finally crashed in the 5th century by the arrival of the Franks. In 508 AD, Frankish king Clovis I united Gaul as a kingdom and made Paris his capital, naming it after the original Parisii tribe.

Discover the Parks of Paris

Jardin du Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Palace...Image via WikipediaAuthor: Paul Buchanan
If you're heading to Paris on a romantic getaway for two, the chances are you'll be looking for a few activities that will make your trip truly special, and nothing could be more special than spending some time in solitude, strolling through a beautiful Parisian park surrounded by flowers and gorgeous scenery.

There are plenty of excellent parks and gardens to visit in Paris, and each one brings its own brand of beauty and uniqueness to the table. It's certainly a good idea to visit one or two during your romantic getaway as you really will be able to enjoy a romantic sense of solitude rather than what you might experience in the city centre: crowds, kids and myriad other couples all doing their best to carve out some alone time of their own.

One of the most famous parks in Paris is Le Bois de Boulogne, a legendary park that was built using London's Hyde Park as its model. This vast and sprawling park invites couples to wander along its leafy paths, taking in beautiful scenes from nature as they while away the hours in idyllic settings.

The Jardin du Luxembourg is a favourite amongst locals and it's perfect for heading to for a nice long walk followed by a picnic. If you've been eyeing up other people's picnic baskets, the Luxembourg is certainly a good place to enjoy one of your own. Even in winter, this particular garden provides inspiring views and stunning snow-specked plantlife, making it the perfect place to visit year round.

For a little taste of culture, the Jardin des Tuileries can be found just west of the Louvre. This historical garden has seen a lot of action in the past - mostly bloody, however, so depending on the type of couple you are you may not think this is the best choice! Still, this particular, once royal, garden is filled with statues and monuments and is the perfect addition to any busy day in the city where a little quiet is needed. However, due to its position, the Jardin des Tuileries may not be the quietest of all the options.

When it comes to your romantic holiday in Paris, the number one factor that's going to make it romantic is you and your partner. However, that doesn't mean the scenery can't help, and if you'd love to enjoy spending time in some of the most romantic natural settings with your partner, you really can't go wrong by staying in hotels in Paris.
