Campania is a region in southern Italy. The capital is Napoli also known as Naples. It is considered the second capital of Italy. Its geographic position makes it one of the best destinations for tourist, not to mention the archeological treasures it holds.

Most parts of this region are characterized by the presence of many mountains. Masses of volcanic origin can be found on the coastline. The archipelago is composed of the major islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida. There are other minor isles which are Vivara and Nisida connecting between each other and to the mainland.

Along the coast are the charming towns of Sorrento, Amalfi and Positano. Ravello is 350 meters high on the Amalfitana coast featuring an exclusive destination of interest worth visiting due to its elevated position which offers clean environment, accommodation and hospitality facilities.

You can visit the excavation sites of Ercolano and Pompei which are of great historic importance due to their archeological patrimony. Visit Vesuvius and admire its National Park.

Foods And Drinks

The cuisine is well bound to the products and traditions of the region. The origin of many dishes from this area is Greek. The exceptionally good taste of food is owned to the fertile volcanic soil of the region. In fact, all fruits and vegetables from this region are highly demanded in other regions for their good quality. This can be considered the home of Italian Pizza. The symbol of the cuisine is without doubts the Pizza Margherita, prepared with tomato, mozzarella and basil. Other dishes include Cervella alla Vesuviana (veal), Minestra di Riso Napoletana (soup with caciocavallo cheese), Calamaretti all'Amalfitana and many other dishes prepared with cuttlefish, clams and local octopus. Outstanding red wines include Vesuvio, Taurasi and for white, Greco di Tufo, Fiano di Avellino and Lacryma Christi.

Madrid is a fascinating city. Here the traditional and contemporary coexist in harmony. The historic quarter of the city with its narrow cobbled streets and medieval buildings and churches are as startling as the flashy skyscrapers of the modern city.

Replete with attractions, it takes weeks to explore this lovely capital city of Spain. Nonetheless, the discerning traveler who wants to experience the spirit of Madrid would prefer visiting the most popular attractions of the city.

If you're going to Paris, you may have heard of the Paris Pass, the Paris Visite Pass and the Paris Museum Pass. These have the potential both to save you and to cost you money. Let me explain the concept.

Paris has lots of museums and other attractions. To get into each of these involves standing in long queues, sometimes for two hours. In addition, an entrance fee is paid for each attraction. How great would it be if you could get into many or most of the attractions for a reduced fee without even having to queue? Sounds great, right?

At first glance it is a really good idea, hence something like the Paris Museum Pass. That said, bear in mind the adage: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". I am not saying you should not get a Paris Museum Pass or one of the other cards; I am, however, saying you should think about whether it is right for you.

Top Tips to See Rome on a Budget

Rome isn't exactly renowned for being the cheapest of cities to take a holiday in. Unfortunately, despite the imminent recession the credit crunch hasn't dampened people's desire to visit this expensive city. Help is at hand: I've been a Rome shuttle driver for more years than I care to remember, and have picked up a great deal of insider knowledge that should help you get by on - well, if not a shoestring budget, then at least significantly cheaper than you'd expect to pay.
I won't go into details of booking flights - that's not really my area of expertise - but do shop around, and make sure you get the best deal possible. Once you get there, there's plenty of ways to save money:

Guide to Rome For Family Travel

RomeRome (Photo credit: ryarwood)
By James Burrows

Rome is one of the best-loved and most beautiful tourist destinations in the world and a visit to this city will give tourists a chance to visit some of the best museums, architectural wonders, churches and parks in Europe. There are a number of different sights and activities across the city which can be enjoyed by both adults and children alike. Here is a guide to help visitors to Rome plan a family holiday.
If you are travelling to Rome with young children or elderly people, it is important to keep in mind any special needs they may have. This is especially important when choosing accommodation in Rome. There are many hotels across the city that are suitable for children that have many extra facilities like children's beds, play areas and day care centres or nannies available.
Another factor to consider when travelling with families is food. While there are a number of restaurants around Rome that cater to different budgets and provide excellent meals, you may have to do some research before hand on the different types of restaurants near your hotel if you are travelling with children or with elderly people who have special dietary requirements. It might also be a good idea to find a hotel or vacation rental that allows self catering.
The main attractions in Rome are architectural in nature, and when travelling with children, it is a good idea to plan the day ahead of time. Visiting the tourist attractions early in the morning, or at times when the crowds are smaller is a good idea, since it will allow you more time to enjoy the sights while not getting caught up with the many groups of people.
When you are choosing accommodation for a family holiday, it is also a good idea to stay in a place that has easy access to a number of attractions, which will allow you to cut down on travel time. Some of the most important sites in Rome are the Spanish Steps, the Coliseum, the Pantheon, the Campi dei Fiori, the Piazza Navona, Saint Peter's Basilica and the Roman Forum. In addition to this, there are many museums and galleries across the city. Visitors to Rome will also be able to enjoy the many concerts, shows and theatrical displays put up from time to time.
You could also take your family to one of the many gardens in Rome and have a picnic. The Temple of Hadrian, Hadrian's wall, the Piazza del Popolo and some of the temples in the area are also worth visiting.
James works in the travel industry and works with Rome family accommodation and Vacation Guides.

5 Restaurants You Must Try in the Pantheon Area, Rome

The Pantheon in Rome, ItalyThe Pantheon in Rome, Italy (Photo credit: Wikipedia)By James Burrows

The Pantheon is a hugely historic site in Rome. It is a temple which was rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian in 126AD. Its vast history and intriguing design mean that it is a huge draw for tourists who arrive to enjoy the architecture as well as for religious reasons. One thing is for sure, a visit to the Pantheon area is not complete for any tourist unless the sample some of the surrounding culture. The range of eateries is a great way to experience local customs. Below are some of the restaurants which you must try in the Pantheon area:
Da Gino - The Da Gino restaurant offers regional food cooked to a good standard. The music from the gazebo and the authentic roman vibe means that this restaurant is a cultural experience and ideal for that mid day meal amidst the site seeing.
Il Bacaro - The quietness and calm outside this restaurant make it hard to believe that it is only a few minutes walk away from some of the largest tourist attractions in Rome. Situated down a side street and under a marvellous vine tree, the Il Bacaro is a wonderful place if you enjoy food which has been prepared directly for you. Don't be fooled by the reasonably low levels of custom inside, the food is delightful and deserving of a more prominent spot.
La Rosetta - One of the original fish restaurants to be opened in Rome, you can be sure that all items on the menu at La Rosetta have been prepared using years of experience. A real treat for the seafood lover and a nice way for those who are not sure about this type of menu to dabble in its delights. La Rosetta has received acclaim in various international publications....and for good reason.
Pizzeria Il Leoncino - It would be a shame to visit Rome, or Italy in general, without experiencing one of the countries signature dishes. Pizza is one of Italy's most successful exports, but you can't beat the taste of a fresh cooked pizza in an Italian restaurant. At Pizzeria Il Leoncino you can experience genuine Roman pizza for a pleasantly low price in what can be an expensive area.
Otello alla Concordia - Reliable is often a word used to describe this characteristic side street restaurant, so those of you looking for that safe bet, look no further. Choose between a seat inside or move outside under the arbour-covered courtyard and select from the variety of traditional Roman dishes.
James spends a lot of time in Rome, Italy and especially loves the local foods and wines. James also promotes Pantheon apartments and Spanish Steps accommodation for tourists in Italy.

Top 10 of the Best New Year Travel Resolutions for 2012

English: Travellers on Churston Common, June 2...Image via Wikipedia

Author: louiselanjaron

The New Year is approaching and we will all be thinking of our 2012 holiday destinations. The New Year resolution traditions stretch all over the globe. Here are a few suggestions for travelers wanting to make a difference this coming year.

Travellers resolution 1 - Leave no trace

An important one for not only the countries we visit but also for nature and to respect the environment. It is important we leave nature as we find it. Take all litter with us and not to chuck it onto the ground in beach, mountain, forests and water areas. To be careful when in hot climates not to start fires, especially through the summer months.

Travellers resolution 2 - Reduce water consumption

Many of the countries we visit are warm climates that see little or no rain for months. It is important to remember that although we are on holiday the locals that live there need water supply all year round so if we are careful with the water we are helping the natives water supply. Try shorter showers and don't leave the tap running when brushing your teeth.

Travellers resolution 3 - Not to over pack

Many of us feel the need to pack our suitcases to the brim. Nothing is worse than having to lug around a heavy suitcase. Try packing sensibly and keep your luggage to a minimum. When traveling to hot countries there should be much less weight as you will only be needing your shorts, t-shirts and flip flops. Also try buy your shampoos, gels and liquids from local supermarkets once in your destination country.

If you're a beach person, definitely go to Malta. Situated off the coast of Sicily, the officially-named 'Republic of Malta' is a small island, so it has tons and tons of beautiful beaches to choose from! In fact, Malta's beaches are one of the reasons this destination is so popular among tourists.
There is no shortage of aquatic activities to choose from in Malta. You can go paragliding, windsurfing, wakeboarding, water skiing, snorkeling, or take a Malta Diving tour and explore Malta's diverse underwater world of reefs, caves, and wrecks.
Malta is not all just fun and sun, though. Malta Sightseeing Tours will open your eyes to all there is to see and do on this memorable island - Malta possesses a rich cultural history that has rendered it a virtual open air museum.
Malta tours will reveal some of the oldest known structures to mankind. As a Malta tourist, be sure to check out Hypogeum, a UNESCO world heritage site. This temple was discovered in 1902 when a stonemason uncovered the remains of over 7,000 people, dating back to 3600 BC, while he was laying the foundations for a house.

Many Americans dream to travel the world when they retire. They have worked all their lives and they feel as though they deserve it, and they do. Americans over 65 are all eligible for Medicare for their medical insurance. Medicare is great because it costs less and has better benefits than many plans for individuals and families under 65 years old. Most people do not realize that there are limitations to Medicare and they will need to consider alternatives when Medicare does not cover certain things.

Many Parisians (especially among the older generations) abstain from buying fresh produce, cheese, meat and fish from their corner supermarket, and for good reason: traditional Paris food markets count in the dozens, with several open one or more days a week in every neighborhood. Market products are often fresher, more flavorful, and less expensive than supermarket counterparts. It can also be a lot more environmentally friendly since the fresh fruit and produce in particular tends to come from local farms.

Rome Best Coffee

A photo of a cup of coffee.Image via Wikipedia

Author: leonhouses

If you wish to enjoy one of the best espressos in Rome you should stop at S. Eustachio coffee following what is certainly considered a real daily ritual in Rome (number 82 of Sant'Eustachio square more or less between Piazza Navona and the Pantheon even not far from Rome Piazza Venezia Attractions).

The coffee in this historic bar of Rome is recommended by many guides. Flickr, for instance, considers it as "the best espresso in the world". You can decide to taste one of the S. Eustachio specialties (e.g. Monachella: coffee, chocolate and cream) directly in the bar or take away and enjoy the aroma at home. It is also possible to order through the web-site. If you wish to follow italian tradition, an option could be to come here and take an espresso after a lunch or dinner in one of the typical restaurants of Rome in Piazza Navona hidden in the small alleys of Rome city centre.

Is Spring The Best Season To Spend A Month Or More In Paris?

The Eiffel tower at sunrise, taken from the Pl...Image via Wikipedia

"April in Paris" is a ballad that probably inspired more spring vacations in the City of Light than any advertising campaign ever did, with its lyrical descriptions of "chestnuts in blossom" and "holiday tables under the trees." The fact is, April in Paris is generally chilly and rainy, and although the fabled chestnut trees are indeed blooming, along with lilacs and wisteria, one would probably rather avoid lunching under dripping trees.
